As a previous competitive swimmer when I saw this fundraising opportunity for Macmillan, I felt drawn to take on the challenge and help support this charity.

Right now, more than 3 million people are living with cancer in the UK. By 2030 this figure will rise to 4 million. Macmillan is an amazing charity that is here to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, by providing physical, financial and emotional support.

This fundraising activity was to swim the length of the English Channel (21 Miles) within June and July. With support and generous donations, I was able to complete the challenge in a couple of weeks and raise £525!

And it’s not too late to donate! If you’d like to my JustGiving page and help raise more money for Macmillan Cancer Support please visit swimit.macmillan.org.uk/fundraising/emma-miles-macmillan-swim-it

Over the two months, I was able to keep people up to date on my progress through my account on the website, logging the distance every time I completed a swim. There was an area I was able to post and write to people following my journey to let them know how the challenge was going. I also took to my social media to try and encourage donations and update followers with my progress, with each post featuring a link to my donation page. I have since made all these posts into a highlights story on my Instagram, so anybody is still able to donate. www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/17865964529975602/
