It is often said that visiting New York City will change your life.
Whether you resonate with the deep, meaningful history of Ellis Island, are awestruck by the countless musicals shown on Broadway every night or simply enjoy the hustle and bustle of Times Square – the city strikes a chord with every visitor.

As a leading foodservice agency, for us New York is all about the city’s delicious food offerings. From burgers to brunch, we’ve captured our foodie favourites from our recent trip to the Big Apple.

Breakfast

Tick Tock Diner – Midtown Manhattan
Tick Tock Diner, an iconic symbol of the American diner, provides customers with high quality ingredients, generous portions at a reasonable price and a comfortable, family-friendly atmosphere.

Their S’mores French Toast (complete with marshmallow fluff) is a must try, but make sure you come hungry!

Hart’s – Brooklyn
The perfect getaway from busy tourist traps, Hart’s is a Mediterranean inspired restaurant that’s popular with locals. We were recommended this place by our friend Amanda who lives in Brooklyn and we weren’t disappointed!
Go for brunch and make sure you try their delicious Pan Con Tomate.

Lunch

Fresh & Co – Lexington Avenue

Cheap and cheerful, we found Fresh & Co a pleasant change from the standard American cuisine.

First time visitors should try their chef-designed grain bowls, which come with your choice of quinoa or rice. Our favourite was the Turkey Chilli Bowl, which was filled with kale, turkey chili, kidney beans, cheese, pico de gallo, half avocado, hot sauce and Greek yogurt.

Dinner

The Counter – Times Square
A contemporary chain with customisable gourmet burgers, The Counter has a menu boasting 85+ ingredients and over a million possible burger combinations. We’d recommend trying the ‘Create Your Own Burger’, particularly with the multigrain bun and gochujang aioli!

Lombardi’s – Little Italy
As America’s first pizzeria, Lombardi’s is oozing with family-run tradition. Their beautiful, smoky-crusted coal oven baked pizzas were unlike any we’ve tasted before.

Skip lunch and head here mid-afternoon for an early dinner so you can enjoy Buddy’s “Cake Boss” special 14” pizza. Topped with fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce, prosciutto, arugula, romano and basil it will be worth the wait.

Whether you try just one or all of our recommendations next time you visit New York City, we’re sure you’ll be impressed with the sheer variety of food available. And if you do try anything from our list, be sure to let us know what you think on Twitter @JellybeanAgency.
