A Taste of Copenhagen
Recently a select bunch of beans were lucky enough to head over to Denmark’s capital Copenhagen and in-between working hard, managed to fit in some fabulous food. (Well as a truly European food and drink agency it’s surely expected!) You can see some of the highlights here…
Sri Lanka – Tea Plantations
Tea. It’s the hot drink we’ve all grown to know and love and, with over 3,000 varieties, it’s also one of the most consumed beverages in world.
Kin Toh – The Ultimate Dining Experience
KIN TOH serves up a Mayan-Mexican avant-garde cuisine that combines methods and local ingredients from our native cuisine with international elements to offer our guest an experience where all senses are involved in each dish.

The Food Service Agency for You
Our passion for food and drink across foodservice, hospitality, retail and consumer is what drives us, and has done for the last 31 years. We take an integrated approach to help our clients grow their brands and hit the sweet spot. It’s what we do and what we love. Great people, great clients, great work. Take a look below and we think you’ll see what we’re all about.
Foodservice
Profit sector, cost sector, out of home, on-the-go, chefs, buyers, front of house, back of house, – whatever your target, we’re the food service agency that knows it inside out. Foodservice is our heartland and we’ve been trusted by leading brands to guide them through this dynamic and complex market for the past thirty years.
Convenience Retail
Convenience retail is growing fast and it can be a highly lucrative market for food and drink brands. Using our vast experience and relationships we know how to get your product flying off the shelves and even more importantly, how to get it there in the first place! From category management to retailer engagement, start-up to blue-chip brand, whatever your challenge, we can help.
Consumer
Of course, we’re all consumers, but it takes a certain special magic to cut through and engage with the right creative message, on the right channel, catching your target audience at the right moment and we know just how!
Dubrovnik for Foodies
When people think of Dubrovnik they often conjure up the spectacular citadel of the old town (a UNSECO World Heritage site) or the beautiful rugged coastline and crystal-clear waters of Croatia, which of course is a big part of visiting this beautiful city. However, from a foodie’s point of view the city and surrounding areas also offer up some fabulous culinary experiences, which are not to be missed. All in the line of duty, we visited the following wonderful restaurants enjoying some great meals along the way (well what else would you expect from the MD of a food and drink agency!?) …
Technology within Foodservice
When Ray Kroc, the first McDonald’s franchise restaurant opened its doors in Illinois, 1955, fast food dining became the latest breakthrough in the eating out sector. The fact that food could be ordered and ready to eat within a significantly short amount of time was considered to be something of the future. Fast forward to 2018 where all the advances in technology mean service throughout the foodservice industry is quicker than ever. So, what sorts of technologies are now shaping the foodservice industry and out of home eating?
Traditional fine dining – gone, but not forgotten?
With the UK casual dining sector going through a challenging period driven by cost pressures, we thought it was a good time to see how the fine dining sector was coping with industry challenges.

The Rise of Veganism
Although the idea of ‘veganism’ originated in the 1940s, there was not a valid definition confirmed until the late 1970’s when ‘The Vegan Society‘ became a registered charity. So, what is the definition of being a vegan? ‘The Vegan Society’ states “A philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals”. Ellie Murrell from food and drink marketing agency Jellybean reports.
Two Weeks at Jellybean
As my two weeks at Jellybean near the end, it is the perfect time to reflect on my experience with food and drink design.
I was greeted on my first day by a very welcoming and friendly team, and briefed on what the next two weeks at Jellybean had to offer. My schedule had been thoughtfully planned allowing me to spend time with both marketing and PR teams, giving me a broad understanding of each department and the work of the company as a whole.
The Best of Brighton
Going to university and living in Brighton for the past two years and being part of such a vibrant city has been exciting and I have learned so much, including the best places to eat and drink! Whenever friends or family visit they always ask me for recommendations, so I decided it was about time to compile my top 5 restaurants and bars. During my placement at foodservice agency Jellybean I thought I’d get blogging and submit my review. It’s easy to get drawn into the fish and chip shops on the seafront, but if you want some really tasty food, here it is.
MCA Eating Out Market Debrief
As a leading integrated food and drink agency we make it our business to keep up to date with the latest trends and dynamics in the eating out market. Part of this ongoing commitment is our membership of the MCA Forum who shared their latest report on the eating out market last week. As you can imagine this a hugely comprehensive report which covers off economic trends, operator challenges, consumer insights and much more (and well worth joining to receive). However, these are my top five take-outs from the half day briefing to help keep you in the loop when it comes to foodservice, hospitality and eating out as a whole.
Being ‘Social’ at the Foodservice Quality Food Awards…
As a partner of the prestigious Quality Food Awards, and with a wealth of experience in foodservice – we’re a leading foodservice marketing & PR agency if you didn’t know (!) – Jellybean was asked along to support and amplify on social media, this year’s Foodservice Quality Food Awards judging process.
Food for Thought – The Challenger Brand Mindset
Since the days of David vs. Goliath the underdog has won out over the big guys. As the leading food and drink agency, the underdog or as we call it ‘challenger brand mind-set’ is one we love. There is nothing better than shaking-up a market with a new entrant who can re-write the rules and take no prisoners. Don’t get me wrong, there is a place for the big household names and we are lucky enough to work with a number of food and drink big boys across foodservice, convenience, retail and consumer markets, but even when we’re working with the established names we bring a challenger brand mentality to bear.
MCA Food Concept Study Tour – July 2018
On the 13th of July Clodagh & Ellie were the lucky ones to be chosen for this month’s MCA Food Concept Study Tour.
Foodie Shots
As an avid foodie I love to eat out (all in the name of industry research of course – foodservice social media is our game after all). Part and parcel of this (in this digital age) is documenting and sharing dishes on social media. It’s a running joke that I basically have a visual diary of everything I’ve ever eaten (that looks pretty) and I’ll always be the first to get my phone out, pleading with my fellow diners to hold back until I can get just the right Dutch angle (Google it).
Life as a bread-loving coeliac
Devastation struck at the age of 10 when I was told that I could no longer eat bread, waffles, and even doughnuts. Although my favourite foods were taken away from me, it didn’t stop me, and so began my love/hate relationship with bread. As a foodservice pr agency we thought we’d delve a little deeper into this.
Catey Awards 2018 – A night to remember
Thanks to our friends at The Caterer, Jellybean had the delight of attending the 35th Catey Awards at the beautiful Grosvenor House on Park Lane. Our evening was spent celebrating the finest individuals from across the UK’s restaurant, hotel, foodservice and pub & bar sectors and recognising the hard work, passion and dedication that is vital to the success of our hospitality industry.
I Imbibed!
One of the things I’ve missed most during my time away from foodservice agency; Jellybean has been the buzz of a trade show (for those of you who don’t know, I’ve recently returned for my fifth year at the fabulous agency). Yesterday morning, I slipped on my walking shoes (read: drinking boots), packed my iPad and printed off my visitor pass – I was off to Imbibe Live 2018.
My First Jellybean Adventure
In January 2018 I started my new working life as a ‘bean’. After six months of learning about the foodservice pr industry and our clients I ventured out to meet with one of the leading magazines in our industry. Yes, I was off to The Caterer to showcase the new Nutella® Piping Bag.
