When it comes to unsung heroes the world of school catering has more than its fair share, which is one of the reasons why the Educatering Excellence Awards are so important. Now in its seventh year these awards celebrate excellence across the school catering sector, with a judging panel made up of no less than twenty movers and shakers from the industry, the awards are highly coveted and recognise the great work of this often overlooked or maligned sector.

As the leading foodservice pr agency we were of course there, live tweeting from the event using #EDUAwards, whilst enjoying a fabulous evening filled with great company, wonderful food and even live entertainment from the Sylvia Young Theatre School. But of course it was the awards which were the main focus of the night, two of which we were lucky enough to get to vote for on the night. The awards, covering everything from innovation to contract catering, primary to secondary, culminated in the Lifetime Achievement Award, which honoured Vic Laws MBE for a career spanning decades during which he has truly made his mark on the education sector.

As ever the Royal Garden Hotel did us proud, as did the great team at H20 led by Jamie. It was a lovely night and great to see so many happy faces receiving their awards. We look forward to the next H20 event, the FSM Awards in November.
