I Imbibed!
One of the things I’ve missed most during my time away from foodservice agency; Jellybean has been the buzz of a trade show (for those of you who don’t know, I’ve recently returned for my fifth year at the fabulous agency). Yesterday morning, I slipped on my walking shoes (read: drinking boots), packed my iPad and printed off my visitor pass – I was off to Imbibe Live 2018.
My First Jellybean Adventure
In January 2018 I started my new working life as a ‘bean’. After six months of learning about the foodservice pr industry and our clients I ventured out to meet with one of the leading magazines in our industry. Yes, I was off to The Caterer to showcase the new Nutella® Piping Bag.
Afternoon Tea Awards
On Wednesday 20th June, MD Susan and I attended the first ever Afternoon Tea Awards, hosted at the Westminster Boating Base by our friends at H20 publishing, the good people behind, amongst others, Hotel F&B magazine.
Brunch with a view
Working at a leading foodservice marketing agency, I hear about amazing places to eat all the time either through insight reports, foodservice news, or indeed my fellow foodie colleagues.
The Portuguese Steakhouse
By Jack Stevens
I’ve always believed that there is no such thing as perfection. However, I soon changed my views after dining at K.O.B by Olivier in Lisbon.
K.O.B stands for Knowledge of Beef and the restaurant lives up to its name. It isn’t your usual steakhouse; it’s more of an experience. As the leading foodservice pr agency, we take our food seriously so we thought we’d investigate.
MCA Insight
On 8th June two of our beans – Laura and Leigh – joined the MCA Food Study Tour around London to discover the latest food trends that are impacting the out of home market.
Time for Development Chefs to Get the Recognition they Deserve with the Foodservice Quality Food Awards
As a leading foodservice agency, we work closely with development chefs day in and day out, so it seems fitting that in our newly appointed role as PR agency to the Foodservice Quality Food Awards that we should announce a new category for 2018. Drum roll please… The Development Chef Award is aimed directly at manufacturers (rather than operators) and recognises these as-yet unsung innovators for their highly commendable work in getting NPD over the line.
My Week at Jellybean
I’m currently studying for a qualification in Public Relations and wanted to get an insight into the workings of a PR agency. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Jellybean over the last few years in my role at a video production company and knew they would be the perfect solution to help me gain the experience I was after.
Whisky – 360
Here at Jellybean, we really value our beans and as part of our commitment to develop everyone to their full potential we carry out regular reviews and appraisals throughout the year. This ensures everyone receives the recognition they deserve and gives every bean the opportunity to develop in their role. So in the spirit of inclusivity we thought it was only fair to include Whisky, our budding apprentice and favourite furry friend (AKA office dog). Using our tried and tested 360° feedback questions this is a snap shot of how he is progressing since joining us back in December 2016.
The true cost behind a ‘clean label’ ingredient list
With the global sales of clean-label products projected to reach $180 billion by 2020*, clean label is no longer an upcoming trend, it’s firmly established.
MCA Food Study Tour 2018
On the 6th April 2018, our very own Beans, Natalie and Nick, attended the MCA Food Study Tour in London to discover the latest food trends and of course, in true Jellybean style, try lots of new food and drink from up and coming concepts. They found some good’uns – take a look!

Baking With A Legend
Working in this industry, I’m often embarrassed to admit I’m neither a keen cook nor a baker (as my talents lie more in the realm of eating out). That being said, I certainly wasn’t going to miss out on a fun-filled afternoon with ex-Great British Bake Off contestant, Jane Beedle, and jumped at the chance when invited with a gaggle of girls.
A recent trip to Benihana
We all love food, but even more so when it’s served to you with entertainment – and if you enjoy a touch of theatre with your meal, you are going to love this!
My experience of the bean life
As my work experience here at Jellybean comes to an end, it has given me a chance to reflect on the week and here are my highlights.
Hotelympia 2018
This March saw the return of the UK’s largest and most prestigious hospitality event, Hotelympia. Happily, it also marked Jellybean’s fifth chapter as PR partner. As the leading foodservice agency, we were proud to once again spread the word in the lead-up to the show and also to run the dedicated press office throughout the four days.

StrEAT Food Awards 2018
Proving that food served in the workplace can compete with the great British high street, B&I Catering’s StrEAT Food Awards returned this week with a live cook off and ceremony at Islington Metal Works.
With a focus on street food – the second fastest growing market segment according to MCA’s UK Eating Out Report – the annual awards celebrate innovation within the contract catering sector. This year, 16 finalists went head-to-head, hoping to wow judges with their creativity in the gripping live cook off. Each chef was tasked with creating three different dishes – one signature dish, one incorporating the sponsor’s ingredients in a technical round and one meat-free speciality.Read More
Inside Dinerama – Shoreditch’s global street food market
The Brexit vote in 2016 hasn’t dampened our demand for global cuisine – quite the opposite in fact, with the booming street food sector encouraging us to be even more adventurous. According to the Nationwide Caterers Association, there are over 2,000 street food businesses in the UK, drawing customers to stalls, trucks and food halls offering a whole host of dishes from around the world. Last weekend, we swapped our traditional sit-down dinner and drinks for a night at Dinerama, the latest in the trend for street food markets in the heart of Shoreditch.
School Catering – A Student’s Viewpoint
As I am doing work experience at a leading food and drink agency, it has made me reflect on my day-to-day food experiences at school. I currently attend Weald of Kent Grammar School in Tonbridge, and have done for the past five and a half years. You may think that half a decade of eating at the same canteen may get a bit dull, however input from students and discussions with the dinner-ladies ensures that the catering staff are always adjusting their services in order to please everyone at Weald.
Jellybean Christmas Party
The Jellybean Christmas party is the perfect opportunity for us to scrub up and don our finest ‘Glam Chic’ attire. It’s a much anticipated celebration for us beans and one which is firmly-fixed in our diaries. This year we visited Tuttons, a Covent Garden landmark in its own right, it’s a fantastic restaurant offering a menu full of classic English cuisine. With its warm red tones and modern interiors, we were lucky enough to enjoy this timeless establishment in one of their two stunning vault dining rooms, a perfect location for a festive celebration.
