Get Ready for National Cocktail Day!
Who doesn’t love a themed cocktail night? Just around the corner on March 24th, is National Cocktail Day, and if the fact that it falls on a Sunday doesn’t dampen your spirits, we’ve got you covered!
A couple of weeks ago, my friends and I got together for a chill night-in which consisted of us each making a round of cocktails inspired by our jobs. What ensued, was a boozy insight into each other’s 9-5.
Pornstar Martini (or Passionfruit Martini, if you prefer)
Now I know what you’re thinking – and I’ll stop you right there – Dani works in a pub where they serve dozens of these a night. Comprising vanilla vodka, passionfruit mix and a shot of prosecco, this was a perfect opportunity for Dani to pick her favourite cocktail to kick off the evening.
Digital Defender Mocktail
Stirring up pomegranate juice, lemon juice and club soda, was Amber’s ‘Digital Defender’ for her role in Cyber Security. With blackberries to garnish as a nod to one of her favourite clients.
Project Punch
Lucy’s ‘Project Punch’ was adorned with her company merch, and inside mixed-up dark rum, orange and pineapple juice, grenadine and club soda. Attached to the lanyard was a ‘to do’ list – as the organised project manager that she is, which included the important tasks of ‘buy alcohol and juice’, ‘mix cocktail in shaker’ and ‘drink cocktails’ – a very nice touch.
A Shot of Gold Vodka with a Bah Humbug on the side
We’re not too sure this one counts as a cocktail, but based on her job role, we think Harriet hit the nail on the head. Sales – with a bit of boozing and schmoozing. The sweet on the side was a symbol of ‘sometimes my job is mint, other times it’s a bit bah humbug’. Bottoms up!
Latte Martini
Due to her colleagues’ reliance on caffeine at the architecture firm, Liv’s cocktail was a take on the classic Espresso Martini incorporating vanilla vodka, coffee liqueur, Baileys and a double shot of coffee. Tastefully garnished with a stately home no less.
Nutella Martini
I feel at a slight advantage here, having a whole host of tasty clients to choose from! With Nutella and Ferrero Rocher in my arsenal, I made a delightful, if incredibly rich, cocktail. Mixing 15g Nutella with chocolate Baileys and vanilla vodka, this was a real dessert cocktail to finish us off. The glasses were prepared with a Nutella and hazelnut rim, with a Ferrero Rocher to garnish. If I were to make this again, I’d definitely pick a smaller glass!
