As the leading food and drink agency dedicated to doing good, we’re delighted to be working with FareShare – the charity on a mission to fight hunger and combat food waste. Led by the mantra “no good food goes to waste” FareShare is all about redistributing surplus food to a vast network of nearly 8,500 charities and community organisations that use it to feed those in need across the country.

A staggering 3 million tonnes of good-to-eat food goes to waste each year in the food industry, while up to 14 million people in the UK are facing hunger – including 4 million children! And if helping those in need isn’t reason enough, FareShare’s work also helps combat climate change. By reusing the rescued food, they help reduce its contribution to the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions.

The summer holidays can be especially challenging for families already at breaking point. So, despite the amazing support they have from their current partners the demand for food is simply outstripping supply.

That’s why we have been working with them to get the word out to food businesses via leading trade media titles, social media and online, to help drive donations of the following this summer:

  • Breakfast: cereal, spreads, eggs, and juice
  • Lunch: bread and rolls, sliced meat and cheese, ready meals and frozen veg and potatoes
  • Healthy snacks, yoghurts, handheld fruit, trail mix and low-sugar cereal bars

So, if you are a food or drink business that can help please do click here to get involved to do your FareShare this summer!
