Cateys 40th
The Cateys is known in the industry as the Oscars of the hospitality world, and I was hugely honoured to be invited this year to it’s 40th anniversary event. As a leading food and drink agency with over 36 years in foodservice and hospitality we have been proud to work with a number of Catey’s award winners and sponsors over the years. This year they really pushed the boat out to mark this momentous milestone for the awards with a special Ruby Catey awarded to Raymond Blanc who spoke on the importance of coming together to make hospitality a destination career choice.
There was for the first time ever a live band, and wait for it, the food for this glittering night was by John Williams Exec Chef of none other than The Ritz London! Throw in a raft of the UK’s leading hoteliers, restaurateurs, and chefs including Jason Atherton, Cherish Finden, Lisa Goodwin-Allen, Brian Turner, Clare Smyth and more, and we were in for quite a night! The wine and conversation flowed through the evening with the nominees all doubtless eager to find out if they would walk away with one of the coveted and iconic statue awards.
Soon it was time for comedian and host of the podcast ‘Off Menu’, Ed Gamble to take to the stage and reveal the winners. The full list can be found here but even those who didn’t walk away victorious are quite clearly the crème de la crème of the industry. Congratulations to nominees, winners, the sponsors who make the night possible and of course the events team at the Caterer for a 40th Awards that will long be remembered by those of us lucky enough to attend.
