Tuesday night saw the great and the good of the sports and leisure catering world gather at Bafta to see who would be walking away with…no, not a Bafta, but one of the highly coveted Sports and Leisure Catering Awards. As the leading foodservice agency we were of course in attendance to hear from editor of SLC Magazine, Joe Bill and enjoy the comic musings of TV’s Mark Durden-Smith, as well as a surprise interview with Roy Westwood from Levy Restaurants (who run the catering at the O2). With sponsors set-up around the reception room, guests mingled whilst trying everything from pastries to pizza, washed down with some cold brew coffee cocktails – delicious!
Then it was into the auditorium for the main event of the evening – the awards, which celebrated Chef of the Year, Event Caterer of the Year, Corporate Hospitality Experience of the Year, Heritage & Arts Establishment of the year, Innovation Award, Menu of the Year, Stadia & Arena of the Year and the big one…SLC Caterer of the Year Award. After the excitement of the award announcements, we were back into the main reception to enjoy some more amazing food from the team at Bafta, which included mini burger slider and chips, Thai Chicken Curry and some beautiful desserts. As the wine flowed along with the conversation, the nominees picked up their certificates while the winners proudly paraded with their stylish awards and close up magicians and mind readers circulated, astounding even the most cynical of guests. Of course congratulations must go to all the nominees, as well as the winners, sponsors and H2O Publishing (the mastermind behind the awards and Sport & Leisure Catering Magazine). Another great event and a fabulous celebration of this dynamic sector of the foodservice industry.
