As the leading foodservice marketing agency, we are lucky enough to go to more than our fair share of ‘swanky do’s’. So when the invitation came to attend one of Arena’s new ‘exclusive gatherings’ we jumped at the chance to dine at The Ritz and hear from their renowned Executive Chef, John Williams MBE. The evening began with prosecco and canapés, as guests mingled with friends and contacts in the foodservice world. The stunning interiors gave the evening a real sense of occasion and the meal itself lived up to the classical ornate surroundings of the Music Room.

With a seafood starter, lamb main and chocolate dessert, all delicious and presented beautifully, followed by delicate petit fours, the dinner was a triumph and was complimented with wines matched to each course. Once the dinner came to a close it was time to hear from our Executive Chef. With a career spanning three decades, from humble beginnings back in Northumberland at the Percy Arms in Otterburn all the way to his current role at the Michelin Starred Ritz, via the world of restaurants, and most notably Claridges and The Berkley, John kept the room enthralled with tales of his journey to success. With highlights including cooking for Mrs. Thatcher’s seventieth and achieving a Michelin star for the Ritz Hotel last year, not to mention catering to the excesses of the eighties, it is safe to say he has certainly seen a thing or two in his time.

Well done to Lorraine and the team at Arena on this new format, we look forward to the Savoy Lecture, Arena’s next event in the calendar.
