Despite having now been out of the education system for (an undisclosed) number of years, there’s still something about September that feels like new beginnings. Summer drawing to a close, battling the school run on the commute, whispers of the C word; there’s a marked shift in the culture as autumn approaches and with it, the all-new opportunities and excitement that comes with a new term.

Indeed, September’s been a month of having rather a lot on our metaphorical and literal plates. So, when it comes to recommendations, there’s a whole heap to enjoy…

Eating

  • At Lai Rai, Peckham – small plates Vietnamese with big flavour! A groovy new opening on the Peckham scene, which is quite £££ for dinner but does offer cheaper Banh Mi lunch options if you’re budget is limited.
  • Something of a Guildford institution, Rumwong Thai has been operating for over 45 years, offering authentic flavour & dishes alongside impeccable service.
  • At Casa Do Frongo, London Bridge – think upmarket Nando’s (with even better interiors) – the most succulent Peri Peri chicken with elite sides and a great selection of small plates.

Drinking

  • At Charlie & Ginger’s, our favourite local haunt for office coffee runs.
  • Huel’s new RTD Daily Greens which we spied and sampled at lunch!, jam-packed full of nutrients – try the peach and hibiscus flavour.
  • Crodo Lemon Soda Mojito, a non-alcoholic sparkling treat – their classic Italian lemonade with a twist of fresh mint and lime.

Cooking

  • Yuzu Pulled Chicken Bao Buns from Gousto. Serve with creamy soy slaw and sriracha potatoes for a Japanese-inspired Friday night dins.
  • This paneer curry – a warming favourite as the nights start to get colder.
  • Taken straight from Trend Watch, we’ve all been embracing the return of Lasagna Soup – everyone’s favourite pasta-dish turned comforting goodness.
