Craft Guild of Chef Awards 2023
It is fair to say the foodservice industry is one in which you can pretty much guarantee you will be well-fed and industry awards are no exception. So there can’t be a tougher gig for a brigade of chefs than the Craft Guild of Chef Awards. Talk about a tough crowd! The crème de la crème of the chef world eating your food – eek! So, it’s a big ‘hats-off!’ to the team at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge as the menu they served up at this year’s Craft Guild of Chef Awards was truly fit for the best chefs in the industry (good job really).
Of course, as the leading foodservice agency, we were delighted to attend, not just for the fabulous food, but also to see who from the esteemed list of nominees would walk away with the coveted awards and of course to catch up with industry friends old and new. The night kicked off in style for the nominees and sponsors with Old Bay Margaritas from our lovely client McCormick, sponsors of the Young Chef of the Year. Then it was onto the business of the dinner and the awards, which broke with tradition as they were earlier in the evening than usual – a welcome change to the format, especially for those concerned about getting trains home with the train strike looming the following day.
The meal was, as mentioned, fabulous, with a Mezze selection of delicate starters, followed by a delicious fillet of halibut, then Old Bay marinated breast of duck, with a Black Forest cake dessert to finish. The wines were equally delicious, and the evening seemed to whiz by in a flash as we celebrated each of the chef winners, with the culmination of the awards being the Special Award which went to Simon Rogan.
It was, as ever, great to see lots of familiar faces including clients sponsoring and supporting the night, including McCormick, Wrapmaster, and Dennys Brands. A big thank you to Dewberry Repoint and McCormick for our invitations. You can see the full list of winners here: cgcawards.co.uk
