What continues to fascinate and excite me about the convenience sector is just how resilient and entrepreneurial independent retailers are. In the face of tough competition, with bigger supermarkets all around them, as well as increased cost pressures that impact their margins, they continue to innovate and thrive. As the leading Convenience Retail Marketing agency, Jellybean is working with Chicago Town Pizza to demonstrate this opportunity,

A lot has been discussed and shared here on the Jellybean blog about the importance and rise of food to go (check out our blog  ‘What’s Driving Food to Go?‘) so it is no surprise that convenience retailers across the country are now really starting to get to grips with offering decent food to go solutions in store. It’s a huge profit opportunity for them with the total food to go market set to reach a value of £21.2bn this year (MCA Insight).

Jellybean retail client, Chicago Town Pizza, has been quick to recognise and help convenience retailers capitalise on the hot pizza to go opportunity. So earlier this year we helped them to launch their new Pizza to Go concept nationwide. Look out for our case study coming soon. The awareness and excitement we have created through our initial launch campaign has led to hundreds of convenience retailers contacting Chicago Town to request one of their cabinets. Across the UK convenience s

ector retailers are now successfully selling Pizza to Go in store and have benefited from the free training, free installation and ongoing support. You can find out more about Pizza to Go here.

One retailer who was quick to get a slice of the action was Justin Whittaker who owns MJ’s Premier convenience store in Royton, Greater Manchester. He was recently awarded the coveted gong of Convenience Store Retailer of the Year. If you are lucky enough to visit his store (as I was very recently) then you will realise exactly why he is considered to be the best convenience retailer in the UK right now.  Check out all the details about why he won in this article.

Testament to Justin’s success as a convenience store retailer, is just how quickly and how successfully he has adopted and incorporated the Pizza to Go concept into his offering. He’s now selling over 100 pizzas a week (which is very impressive indeed) and he even has an app for a home pizza delivery service to capitalise on sales all day round.

As part of our ongoing trade communications campaign for Pizza to Go we co-created a video at Justin’s store with leading online retail title Talking Retail. Click here to see Justin and the team at Chicago Town talking about the success that has been achieved – Watch the Video Here. This video is an example of one of the many ways we use our relationships with influential convenience retailers to help our clients promote peer to peer advocacy and drive sales in convenience.

Please get in touch if we can help you with your next convenience or retail campaign.
