Making the most of convenience summer sales
Shelley’s Budgens video case study.
Soaring temperatures can mean soaring sales for convenience stores. Key categories like soft drinks, ice cream, BBQ food and booze see huge spikes in sales as shoppers spend lots of time in the sunshine. However during long spells of hot weather there’s a danger that demand can out strip supply and that can be a big problem.
Out of stocks not only result in short term lost sales but they can also mean shoppers lose confidence in a store and they may shop elsewhere in the future. We popped along to Shelley’s Budgens of Holbrook in West Sussex, to see how they were coping with the hot weather and what they’re doing to maximise sales this summer.
