Having been to Greece on a work trip a few years ago and loving it, when it came at looking for a holiday this year, we decided we would try one of the Greek islands.

After looking around, we decided that Crete would be the best option for us as it’s the most southerly of the islands and therefore the hottest – going in October that was very important to us.

We stayed at the Iberostar Creta Panorama on an all inclusive basis and boy did we make the most of that! From freshly made ham and cheese omelettes for breakfast, kebabs for lunch and a choice of pretty much everything under the sun for dinner, I can honestly say that we thoroughly enjoyed all the food that was offered. My particular favourite was the traditional moussaka – a delicious blend of flavours with one of my favourite meats – lamb.

As for the drinks, we felt compelled to try every single cocktail on the menu in order to find our favourite – a hard task I know but one done purely in the interest of genuine taste research. The selection included a few of the classics such as the margarita and tequila sunrise to name a few but they also offered a cocktail called “caribe” – a blend of rum, coconut milk and blue Curaçao – this was the winner for me and became my drink of choice for most of the holiday.

As well as the delicious food and drink, the hotel itself, which is set in stunning grounds, completely exceeded our expectations. With a number of different pools to choose from, the beach on our doorstep and the amazing views, this was a fantastic holiday and a place that I will definitely be recommending to friends and hope to revisit one day soon.
