A bunch of foodies we are, and a devoted bunch at that! We like nothing more than to dip in to our pockets of creativity and help raise awareness and funds for deserving causes where we can.
Earlier this month, The British Heart Foundation held its annual fundraising day – #WearItBeatIt. The charity asked the nation to show their support by wearing red and hosting an event to fund its life-saving research.
The beans decided to take it one step further. A lunch with foods good for your heart – bonus points if they were red! We aptly named it, #EatItBeatIt.
By lunchtime on February 6th, the boardroom table was adorned with a spread of healthy homemade delights from a Quinoa Salad (with mixed beans, radish, peppers, tomatoes, spring onion and feta cheese) to Dark Chocolate and Rum Truffles – dark chocolate’s good for your heart you know! 😉
The beans also whipped up a Walnut and Pomegranate Salad, a selection of crisp breads and seeded crackers to dunk in to the homemade Broccomole Dip (Broccoli Guacamole – hold the avocado), a Tomato and Red Pepper Dip, Tzatziki Dip and Avocado Salsa. A home baked granary loaf and heart shaped salmon sarnies gave the table some substance and two types of red ‘health-kick’ smoothies were served to wash it all down.
The day was a great success! We posted our efforts on our Twitter and Instagram, hashtagging and mentioning BHF along the way. And from the looks of things we were in good company as the nation as a whole did a fine job in raising awareness of the great work the guys at The British Heart Foundation do.

In the meantime, keep an eye out for the next Jellybean fundraiser – we’re always cooking, designing, dressing up or social networking for charity!
