Pampered Chef Party

Earlier this month I was invited to my very first Pampered Chef party – having never heard of such a thing I didn’t know what to expect but with an open mind I headed to my friend’s home who has been regularly attending the events for years and swears by them.

For those not in the know Pampered Chef is a supplier of high quality essential kitchen tools, bringing their products to life through recipe demonstrations in your very own home. Have you ever seen a woman prepare a Giant Chicken Pastry Wheel or 24 mini Banoffee Pies in a living room? Neither had I until Pampered Chef. Janet, our host, proved herself an old pro showcasing the company’s must have gadgets and gismos, as well as the latest knives and bakeware. We all took turns road testing the Food Chopper which allows you to finely chop veg using manually powered rotating blades – “also good to release stress,” explains Janet as she bangs down on the pump. We were all amazed at the Mini Tart Shaper – just place your Jus-Rol pastry balls in your baking tin, push down with the shaper and voila! The perfect pastry tart case is ready for its filling.

By the end of the evening the guests, including myself, found ourselves converts to Pampered Chef and poured over the catalogue considering what we should buy. With award-winning Pastry Chef and Chocolatier, Will Torrent an ambassador it struck that ‘kitchen cheats’ are becoming more and more acceptable. With the majority of 18 to 30s cooking from scratch just once a week* culinary gadgets may be the future in overcoming the challenges of not having basic cooking skills, speeding up prep times when many are juggling busy lifestyles and giving people confidence when it comes to home cooking.  I didn’t buy the Food Chopper in the end but having caught the baking bug following Great British Bake Off, the Mini Tart Shaper is on my wish list this Christmas.
