Food and Drink PR Agencies - Race for LifeSunday morning saw six of us ‘Jellybabes’ (Susan, Laura, Katie, Olivia, Rachel and Sue) up and enjoying the rather intermittent sunshine on top of Epsom Downs for our annual Race for Life. It is a beautiful  spot with stunning views across to the South Downs and then north towards London – on a clear day you can make out The Shard and T5 at Heathrow! As usual Laura left the rest of us standing and went racing off, finishing her 5k in half the time it took the rest of us to walk – but then running does get in the way of a good chat I find.

We were joined by honorary Jellybabe Nicole, who had sadly lost her father earlier this year to cancer, and her Mum came to support us as well. I think she covered just as many kilometres dashing across the route to cheer us on and wave her banner as we did walking the route.

As usual the participants were all ages, from babies in buggies to grandmothers glowing in pink. Fancy dress as always was rife, lots of tutus, angel wings, sparkly pink wigs, glittery deely boppers and just a riot of every shade of pink, plus that ultimate accessory – the dog in a pink coat. But it’s the dedications that are worn on the racers’ backs that underline the real purpose for us all being there – the loved ones that have been lost to this terrible disease and those that are still fighting it. There are also the messages from those who have beaten cancer and they are the ones that take this challenge on with an extra zing in their steps.

This year we have so far managed to raise £350 which Fiona is kindly doubling to £700 – nearly £200 more than last year! So I think we can be justly proud of our efforts and of course, you can still contribute by going to: http://www.justgiving.com/jellybabes3

And to round off a brilliant day Olivia hosted a BBQ for us all, just perfect – sitting in her glorious back garden, glass of prosecco in one hand and a slightly singed sausage in the other – wonderful!
