Here at Jellybean, we are keen to get involved with various charity events and there was no stopping us keen beans from signing up to the Hotelympia 10k in aid of one of the industry charities we support – Springboard.
Being a mixed bunch of beans, it seems that some of us have a lot more experience in the running field. I for one struggled to run to the top of my road and back only two weeks ago (it’s a very short road) but with the correct training programme, I have stunned myself with the progress I have made.
Here are some top tips which should help anyone stick to their running goal:
• Team work! – If you know other people who are beginners, or even more advanced runners trying to reach a target, then that will massively boost all of your motivation.
• Slow and steady wins the race – Don’t push yourself too hard at the beginning because you can easily lose the enjoyment (or injure yourself), instead finding it a chore.
• Eat well – You should never exercise on an empty stomach. Be sure to have a balanced diet to keep those energy levels up.
• Have fun! – Running doesn’t need to be boring. Every day can be a new route or even run on a treadmill whilst catching up on Come Dine with Me!
I won’t reveal my goal time to run the 10K in but you will be certainly sure to hear about it if achieved!
