I’ve been lucky enough to have experienced the delights of the Big Apple, but if you’ve not been able to get there yet, fear not, for another slice of the Big Apple is coming to us!
We’ve had the all American burger joints and diners set up home in towns across our country, but the latest restaurant trend from our friends across the pond is the classic New York deli. This QSR (quick service restaurant) is set to inspire us with its impressive array of smoked and seasoned meats, which will delight the taste buds.
With sandwiches piled high with an array of sliced beef, pastrami or smoked salmon there is no denying that just attempting to eat such culinary masterpieces is an event in itself, but this is part of the appeal (although perhaps not ideal first date food)! There is nothing pretentious about this style of food – it is simple, classic, comfort food and is just the sort of thing we’re hungry for.
An example of one such New York deli that is reaping the rewards having chosen to set up on our fair isle is that of Delisserie New York Deli & Grill. The restaurant has expanded from a single unit in 2002 to four across North London. Serving over a dozen stacked sandwiches as well as deli classics such as chopped liver, smoked salmon and chicken soup, and with a philosophy to ‘serve large portions at affordable prices in a relaxed friendly environment.. . as a New York deli should’, its success is surely set to continue.
So, if you fancy sampling the delights of a New York deli, but on your doorstep, then you’re in luck. As the trend continues to spread I’m sure it won’t be long until these meat feast delis are on the corner of every high street, and I know I for one will be checking mine out when it arrives!
