The Guild Celebrates its Partners

Craft Guild of ChefsThe Craft Guild of Chefs is a hugely respected body within the foodservice and hospitality industry and has long valued its corporate business partners, which enable so much of its important work. Yesterday saw the Craft Guild host their annual Business Partners Lunch with a departure from the usual London venues to a more scenic location just outside Farnham in Surrey. The stunning Northbrook Park played host to members of the Executive Committee of the Guild and representatives from their business partner brands. As the leading foodservice agency Jellybean has worked closely with the Craft Guild for many years and represent a number of the Guild’s Business Partners including Aviko, Tilda, Sodexo, Pritchitts, McCormick’s, Jus-Rol, Hobart Cooking Solutions and Hotelympia. With a spare ticket available (as one of our clients could sadly not make it) I was delighted to attend the lunch in their place. So off I headed to Farnham in the autumn sunshine, reaching the picturesque setting of Northbrook Park in time to enjoy a glass of bubbly and some salt and vinegar puffed rice canapés (a new one on me, but really quite moreish).

The event was catered by award winning chef and member of the Guild, Matt Owens and his new venture – Fusion Catering Solutions, assisted by ‘infusions 4 chefs’ and some rising talent from The Guilds Culinary Academy and what a job they did! With a delicious five course meal they hit the spot with delicious carefully crafted dishes presented with flare. With such a discerning audience there were sure to be high expectations and it is safe to say that they did not disappoint. As both the conversation and drinks (mostly water for the drivers) flowed, the afternoon seemed to pass in the blink of an eye. As the meal drew to a close there was just time for a short update from Christopher Basten and Lee Maycock on the Guild’s plans for the rest of 2013 and the coming year. With the River Cottage event, Family Food Appreciation initiative, National Chef of the Year and of course the Craft Guild of Chefs Awards Dinner to name but a few, there is certainly a lot to look forward to from the Guild under its new leadership from Christopher and Lee.

My thanks must go to the Guild for a wonderful lunch, which I am sure all of the partners greatly enjoyed, I felt very privileged to be there (especially on the top table!).
