Always on the lookout for something different to do at the weekend, the chance to experience a classic car boot sale was too good an opportunity to miss!
Saturday 12th October saw vintage take over the Southbank Centre as they transported the area into a classic car boot sale. It was a petrol head’s paradise, with an array of stunning classic cars trading everything from vintage clothing and accessories to pop culture memorabilia and vinyl records.
As the sun shone and the crowds grew, some of who had dressed for the occasion, the smell of tantalising food offerings added to the experience. An array of vintage wagons served up the finest street food, including Engine, who serve artisan smoked sausages, B.O.B.’s Lobster’s famous lobster rolls and street food favourite, Bleecker Street Burgers.
As well as the culinary delights on offer there was also plenty of live entertainment, including British Music Experience’s ‘Traffic Jam’, a renovated Austin Morris J4 Dormobile in which DJs play a mix of music both inspired and influenced by Lord Kitchener’s 1950s calypso classic ‘London is the Place for Me’ and also Festival DJs, who play vinyl from the top of an open-air London Route master!
All in all it was a glorious day and showed the Southbank at its best! Here’s hoping Vintage will come again as we’ll definitely be up for paying another visit and joining in the celebration of everything vintage!
