The Jellybean Awayday took place this weekend and was the perfect opportunity for us Jellybeans to get our sea legs on. Our destination was Port Hamble Marina to hop on-board the Seafin motor yacht for a well-deserved break from work and to take a day cruise around the Solent.
We were there to watch the start of the biggest Rolex Fastnet race to date, with 335 boats travelling from Cowes to Plymouth. The race dates back to 1925 and is a bi-yearly event among keen sailors. Find out more info on the race and trace the boats in the latter stages of the race here. After waving to the passing boats, we hopped off ours to Bucklers Hard for a lunchtime drink.
After a scary start of dull, rainy weather it soon brightened up and the Jellybean’s spirits were lifted for the day. Being keen foodies, the staff were under pressure to impress and they definitely did. With a delicious variety of food and drink served throughout the day, I felt like I was on an all-inclusive holiday with no intentions on rudely turning down any food offered.
We then stopped at Osbourne Bay for a bit of jet skiing – it quickly became apparent that some of us were more skilful than others, although there were only a few unlucky ones to be thrown off the back and we had to wave goodbye to Amelia’s sunglasses. There was certainly something for everyone, with others opting for a jump off the top of the boat or a swim in the very salty sea.
All in all it was a really fun day out with the team, one that gave us a chance to get away from the office and have a laugh with our colleagues. Our fun could definitely be shown by the number of sleepy beans on the mini bus on the way home. Thanks again Fiona!
