A recent study carried out in the US by SinglePlatform at Constant Contact and research firm Chadwick Martin Bailey has found that restaurants are the most searched industry on mobile devices.
The study revealed that in the last 6 months an impressive 81% of consumers have searched for a restaurant via a mobile app. In addition, 75% said their decision on where to eat was often based on the search results they received!
These findings show that the restaurant industry is far outperforming entertainment, retail, hotels and personal services – all of which are highly searched industries and illustrates that the need for restaurants to ensure their websites, in particular, their online menus, are up-to-date.
Other key findings from the US study include:

Although conducted in the US, the message is clear to all, no matter where they are based. Restaurants need to make sure that their online and mobile presence is up-to-date and accessible. Consumers are getting increasingly tech savvy and businesses need to constantly evolve so that they stay on top of what their customers’ are doing.
By doing this, they ensure they are delivering what they want and that results in happy customers and happy sales!
