Street Food has in the past couple of years become a hot-topic, not to mention a hot-bed of innovative food and drink. Long gone are the soggy burgers and dubious hotdogs of our childhood. Now its all ‘gourmet’ and ‘fusion’, chorizo and mussels. No longer does serving food out of a moving vehicle mark you out as a somewhat iffy street trader – quite the contrary! Now it seems ‘Street Food’ is leading the UK food scene with many operators even moving into the realms of traditional restaurants from their original mobile routes. This weekend sees the cream of the crop gather for the British Street Food Awards hosted by the ever present Jamie Oliver at Fifteen, as part of their 10th anniversary celebrations. From Mussel Men to Green Goat Food it’ll all be there! Not to mention Ginstock and Runstock running in tandem and serving what are sure to be some impressive cocktails!
As the leading away from home agency Jellybean will be there sampling the best of the street food revolution in the name of ‘research’! Its a tough job but someone has to do it! Stay tuned for our review next week!
