Fed up of coming home from holiday to an empty fridge?

With a love of technology and marketing, I was interested in reading about the new virtual grocery store at Gatwick Airport. The virtual store helps holidaymakers shop for the essentials on their return from holiday using their smartphone.

Last year Tesco launched a virtual store in Seoul, South Korea which allows customers to shop on the move in subways and at bus stops by pointing their mobile phones at billboards to buy their essentials.

With this exciting new technology at Gatwick it will avoid you coming home from your holiday to an empty fridge. All you have to do is scroll through the unique moving screens on large virtual fridges and scan the barcodes of the products you need for your return with your smartphone. All the products that have been scanned are then added to your online basket and you then arrange a suitable time for a home delivery before going to the checkout. It’s that simple!

Let’s hope they bring this to all airports around the country so you are never left with no food in the fridge on your return from your holidays.
