Tuesday night saw the great and the good of the hospitality industry gather at the fabulous Grosvenor House Hotel for the jewel in the crown of industry awards – ‘The Cateys’. As the leading foodservice agency we of course were there flying the Jellybean flag, whilst rubbing shoulders with the likes of Brian Turner, Jason Atherton and Tom Kerridge.
The night was a patriotic tour-de-force from the stunning red white and blue backdrop, to the delicious menu featuring everything great about Britain from Bramley Apples to Coleman’s mustard! We were treated to a mini proms and after dinner entertainment from the quintessentially British Miles Jupp (stand-up comedian). The Awards themselves were presented by everyone’s favourite Ghuker saving, Avenging lady – Joanna Lumley!
Breezing through the Awards in her ever professional manner she managed to put all the winners at ease and also let slip a secret love of men in kilts! The evening culminated in the Special Award presented to Arnold Fewell who gave a heartfelt plea for the industry to recognise the £2bill disabled market and the evening drew to an end as Dick Turpin rode off with the well deserved the Lifetime Achievement Award, which he dedicated to the two loves of his life – his family ‘Team Turpin’ and his second love the hospitality industry.
All in all it was as always a fabulous night and congratulations must go not just to all the amazing finalists, but also the judges, sponsors and the team at the Caterer who managed to pull together a stunning evening, beautifully themed to celebrate this special year. Well done and thank you!
