The forthcoming Royal Wedding will, if only for a day, give us all a chance to be patriotic.

Some may fly the odd Union Jack and gaze in wonderment at the beautiful blushing bride, while others will find it difficult not to hark back wistfully to a time when William still had a fine head of hair.

If the weather holds (and it’s a big ‘if’) Friday 29th April will also be a chance to toast the happy couple.

Ever since the announcement, Savvy marketing agencies have been hard at work plotting how to profit from the day and, like much in marketing, there have been numerous triumphs and the odd disaster.

Everyone seems to have got involved, yet once the last petal of confetti has fallen and the crowds have long gone, it seems a certainty that the commemorative Royal Wedding Sick Bag (£4.49) or the Wills and Kate Toilet Seat (£9.95) will have lost some of their pre-nuptial appeal.

Just when you thought there was nothing left to give, no product left unbranded, British firm BrewDog has announced that it has brewed a commemorative beer laced with Viagra.

The new brew – Royal Virility Performance – has been specially created to mark the forthcoming Royal Wedding and contains the traces of the popular blue pill plus added aphrodisiacs such as Horny Goat Weed and chocolate.

A beer that actually improves sexual prowess?

Before the male population run from their homes to buy this incredible tonic, BrewDog has announced that just 40 bottles of the £10 India Pale Ale will be produced and will be limited to one per person.

Those lucky enough to get their hands on one can take heart from the fact that Royal Virility Performance will have an alcohol content of 7.5 per cent – more than enough to feel a light stirring, if you get my meaning.

All proceeds from the tongue-in-cheek tipple will go to charity Centrepoint and the firm has announced that it will continue production if the beer proves a success.

Just don’t give it to your Granddad.
