And what better way to celebrate than with a delicious cocktail made with fruits that are in season and full of flavour! The blood orange, mostly grown in Mediterranean countries, has fiery red coloured rind and a unique taste, tarter than regular oranges. In season throughout January, it’s the perfect addition to cocktails and juices. Try the following “Blood and Sand” recipe below for a refreshing evening tipple:
25ml/1fl oz Scotch whisky
25ml/1fl oz cherry brandy
25ml/1fl oz sweet vermouth
25ml/1fl oz freshly squeezed blood orange juice
cocktail cherry, to garnish
1. Place all the ingredients, except the cherry, into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake hard and strain into a Martini glass.
2. Garnish with a cocktail cherry.
