I am infuriated by a snippet of news I heard on the BBC this morning and want to share it with you.
In the wake of the MP’s expenses scandal, on the day that the government wakes up to the fact that we have a serious knife problem on our streets and in the midst of a serious economic recession I hear that Labour MP for Glasgow Central, Mohammad Sarwar, has called for the city to be officially recognised as the home of the Chicken Tikka Masala, Britain’s most popular curry. Mr Sarwar said he wanted Glasgow to be given EU Protected Designation of Origin status for the curry, and has tabled an early-day motion in the House of Commons. Now I have nothing against Glaswegians (some of my best friends live there) and I love curry but am I the only person who feels that we have some slightly more pressing matters to put as a motion through parliament??
