Consumers increasingly opting for TV dinners

The Daily Telegraph (p.10) today reports that, according to Debenhams, sales of knives are falling as consumers opt to eat in a more casual manner. The retailer has revealed that in the past few months its fork sales have outstripped that of knives by two to one, indicating that more Britons are choosing to eat in front of the TV rather than at the dining table. Does that mean that we all sit shovelling food into our mouths while watching the plethora of soaps and reality tv shows we are served up every evening? The great British Public should get a life and get out there to enjoy and savour some of the wonderful outdoor venues we have in this country – and take their forks with them!!!
